Description

The Stone House is a 14th-century building, significantly altered in the early 19th century. It is faced in flint with brick dressings and has a tiled roof with gables. The building forms an L-shape. The west-facing elevation has four narrow loop windows to the first floor. An end facing The Street has a blocked trefoil-headed lancet window. The long east front has 19th-century brick windows with pairs of pointed lights with diamonds in the heads, and two gabled porches. According to local accounts, it once housed priests before the completion of Cobham College. In the 19th century, it served as the village school. The building is now divided into two houses. Roof timbers of 14th-century date remain.
