Description
Rhodes House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is built of painted brick and has a plain tile roof. The main range has a wing that projects forward to the right. The building is two storeys high with attics, set on a painted brick plinth. The eaves slightly project and are supported by paired Ionic modillions. The wing has a hipped roof at the front, with a gable end stack to the left and a brick ridge stack located at the junction of the main range and the wing.
The house features two segmental-headed dormers and has irregular fenestration with four sashes in open boxes. The main range has a regular three-window front, consisting of two 16-pane sashes and a central 12-pane sash, while the wing includes one 16-pane sash. The ground floor windows have segmental heads, and there is a tripartite sash window on the ground floor of the wing. A panelled door with two top lights is located under the third window from the left, accessed by three steps. This door is framed by a panelled architrave with a flat moulded hood supported by consoles, and there is a swagged urn on the frieze. There is a short rear wing to the left, but the interior has not been inspected.
