Description

This is a row of early 19th-century cottages located on Stade Street. The cottages have tiled roofs. Numbers 26 to 38 (even) are predominantly red brick, with the exception of numbers 36 and 38, which are constructed of stone rubble with red brick dressings and quoins on their south side. Numbers 36 and 38 may be older than the rest of the row. A modillion eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The original glazing bars remain in place throughout, with the exception of the ground floors of numbers 32 and 36, which now feature smaller shop windows. Numbers 36 and 38 have casement windows. The doorcases of numbers 24 to 34 are set within frames, numbers 26, 28, 30 and 32 being in pairs. Each doorcase features a projecting cornice, a low, rectangular fanlight, and a six-panel moulded door. Numbers 26 to 38 form a unified group.
