Description
38, 38A, and 40 High Street is a building that likely started as one house. It is a timber-framed structure that was refronted in the 18th century, while still retaining the overhang of the first floor. The building has two storeys, with the first floor covered in stucco. It features a steeply pitched hipped tiled roof. The sections at 38 and 38A have a cornice and parapet that extend above the roof level. There are four sash windows on the first floor, although some of the glazing bars are missing. The ground floor has modern shop fronts. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 32 to 40 (even).
