Description

Hunter's Moon is a former pair of houses, now a single residence, dating from the late 17th century or 18th century, with later alterations. The building is likely timber framed, featuring a front elevation that is partly made of painted flint, partly painted brick, and partly rendered. It has a plain tile roof and consists of two bays with a central stack bay, rising two storeys high. The hipped roof has a gablet on the left side, and there is a brick ridge stack located towards the centre.

The windows are arranged irregularly, with three in total: one three-light casement on the left and two two-light horizontally-sliding sashes on the right. The ground floor includes a multipane former shop window to the left of centre, along with two two-light casements with segmental heads to the right. A boarded door is positioned towards the left end, and there is a blocked doorway beneath the stack. The building also features weatherboarded lean-tos with rear stacks on each gable end.

Inside, the ground floor has a chamfered axial beam and chamfered joists in each room. There is a window staircase with a shaped finial on the landing newel post, located between the stack and the former entrance lobby. A broad plank door leads to the staircase, which is steep and dates from the 18th or 19th century, positioned against the rear wall near the stack. The roof has staggered butt purlins arranged in five short bay-lengths. This building was formerly known as Hunter's Moon Tea Shop.
