Description
The Star Inn is a public house, dating to the 18th century with additions from the early 20th century. It is constructed of rendered brick, with tile hung gable ends on the first floor, and a plain tile roof. The building consists of two parallel ranges; a broader rear range from the 18th century with a higher ridge, and a front range dating from the early 19th century. The two-storey front has a regular three-window arrangement, featuring 12-pane glazing-bar sash windows in open boxes with four windows on the ground floor. A brick stack projects to the right end of the front range, and gable end stacks are present on both ends of the rear range, with the left-hand stack projecting. A central 20th-century half-glazed porch, featuring a hipped plain-tile roof and half-glazed door, provides access. The interior was only partially inspected, but an 18th-century panelled door leads to the ground floor of the rear range.
