Description

Firtree Cottage is a late 18th or early 19th century farmhouse, now a house. It is built of red and grey brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a plain tile roof. The cottage is two stories high, with a hipped roof. A projecting brick stack in English bond, featuring plain-tiled shoulders, is located at the left gable end, and a smaller similar stack is situated on the right. The front facade has a regular two-window arrangement, featuring two-light, horizontally-sliding sash windows. The ground-floor windows have segmental heads. The left-hand window is similar to those on the first floor, while the right-hand window is a two-light casement. A central boarded door is topped by a slanted, bracketed hood. A brick lean-to is attached to the rear. The interior has not been inspected. The building possesses group value from its contribution to the local vernacular.
