Description
Old Tree Cottage is a house with a late 18th century facade, possibly built earlier in the same century. It features a red brick exterior with occasional grey headers in Flemish bond, while the rear wall is timber framed. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The building has two storeys and displays a cogged and dentilled brick eaves cornice, along with gable end stacks. The front has a regular two-window arrangement, with two-light casements on the first floor and three-light casements on the ground floor, all in altered openings. There is a central late 20th century gabled brick porch with a ribbed door. A late 20th century brick addition to the left is not included in the listing. Inside, the cottage features exposed timbers of relatively small scantling and an inglenook fireplace on the left, which has an iron door leading to a small salt niche. The cottage is listed for its group value.
