Description

Albion Villas comprises a pair of houses built in the 1840s in Folkestone. The houses are three storeys high with attics and a basement, and are constructed of stuccoed walls with a hipped slate roof, featuring two dormers, one of which is modern. They have four windows in total, two of which are three-light, canted bays extending through the two lower floors. A modern window is present to the left-hand side of No. 3. The ground floor is rusticated, and the windows are adorned with keystones. The detailing includes long and short quoins. Modern extensions have been added to each house. A plaque denotes that Charles Dickens rented No. 3 during the summer months, and wrote part of "Little Dorrit" there. Nos. 1 to 6 Albion Villas form a group of buildings of group value.
