Description
The Swan Hotel, located at 1253 High Street, is an 18th-century building featuring two storeys and attics, constructed of red brick. The tiled roof is adorned with seven dormers and a dentilled eaves cornice. The hotel has seven sash windows, although some glazing bars are missing. A sun fire plaque is present on the exterior. The entrance has a doorcase with a small pediment supported by brackets. Notably, the two westernmost window bays on the ground floor have been altered to create a recessed public house front. Additionally, a milestone is incorporated into the wall of the ground floor, inscribed with the distances: "From London Bridge 71 miles by Rochester, From Ashford 12 miles."
