Description
A house, originally a row of houses, dating back to the 17th century, with alterations from the 19th century. It is timber-framed, with the ground floor rendered and the first floor tile-hung. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The building is set at a right angle to the road and likely follows a lobby entry plan. The main range consists of three timber-framed bays, including a narrow bay with an original stack on the left end, and a two-bay cross-wing to the left of the stack bay, projecting slightly to the rear. The house has two storeys and a rendered plinth. It previously had a jetty, which returned along the left gable end, but is now underbuilt. The roof is hipped, with the left hip returning. There is a multiple brick ridge stack to the left of the centre and a slender projecting stack to the right gable end, within a lean-to extension. The windows are six modern metal casements arranged irregularly. There is a lean-to on the right gable end, and rear lean-tos to both the wing and the main range. A panelled door is located on the left gable end, leading up six steps. Further doors are present on the rear lean-tos. Internally, there is exposed timber framing. A compact 17th-century newel staircase is located to the rear of the stack. 17th-century internal partitions remain between bays on the first floor of the wing, and on the ground and first floor of the main range, between the right and central bays.
