Description

The White Cottage Restaurant is a house that has been converted into a restaurant. It dates back to the 16th century and was altered and extended in the early 18th century. The building is timber framed and covered with painted brick, topped with a thatched roof. It has a hall house plan and consists of one storey and an attic, standing on a plinth. The roof is hipped to the left and features a stack to the right, along with two swept dormers. There is a wooden casement window to the centre right located under the eaves, and four segmentally headed wooden casements. Two rib and stud doors are positioned to the centre left. At the rear, there is a catslide outshot. Inside, there is evidence of a jetty in the north bay on the right side, along with a cross passage and a Crown post roof that shows signs of smoke blackening.
