Description
Wingham Barton Manor is a house that dates back to the 15th century or earlier. It features a timber-framed structure with close studding, plaster infill, and brick herringbone nogging on the left side, along with a tile-hung wing. The roof is plain tiled. The building is L-shaped and consists of at least two construction phases. It has two storeys and a continuous jettied range to the left supported by dragon posts. The roof is hipped with a gablet on the left side, stepping up to the right-hand range which has a projecting hipped wing, also with a gablet. There are stacks on the right side, as well as at the rear right and rear left. The windows are irregularly arranged, with five wooden casements of two and three lights on each floor. A rib and stud door is located at the centre right, framed by a moulded four-centred arched surround. The building is linked to the late 13th-century College at Wingham, and some parts are believed to date from that period.
