Description
Sheerwater Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 18th century, with a rear wing added in 1745. It is constructed of red brick, which is painted on the return elevations, and features a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, set on a plinth, with a brick dentil eaves cornice and kneelered gables. It includes a central hipped dormer, two flush skylights, and chimney stacks at both ends. The windows are arranged regularly, with two sash windows on each floor, a small central wooden casement on the first floor, and a central panelled and glazed door topped with a flat hood supported by brackets. There is a catslide outshot and an additional wing at the rear, which has the date "WC 1745" above the rear door. Inside, the farmhouse features inglenook fireplaces with some remaining brick coving, moulded ceiling joists, and several original fittings, including doors. A three-flight newel staircase is present, featuring pitch pine panelling with beaded muntins, and the roof has heavy clasped purlins.
