Description
Nos 27 and 29 on King Street are originally a 15th-century timber-framed house that has been altered in the 18th century and refronted in the 19th century. The building retains its first-floor overhang supported by a bressummer. The ground floor is now covered with brown roughcast and imitation timbering, while the first floor features mathematical tiling. The sash windows have intact glazing bars, except for a modern window at No 29. There is a bay window on the ground floor with intact glazing bars. The doorway has pilasters and a pediment-shaped hood supported on brackets beneath the overhang, leading to a six-panel fielded door, with the top two panels glazed. The door for No 27 is modern. The building has two storeys, with two windows facing west and two windows facing south. Nos 21, 27, and 29, along with the gas lamp and outhouse with Nos 54 to 60 (even) High Street, form a group.
