Description

This listing describes a pair of early Victorian houses, originally built around 1820, now divided into three separate dwellings. They are located within East Cliff Terrace. The houses are two storeys high and feature four windows each. The exterior is stuccoed, with a rusticated appearance on the ground floor. Each house has a curved bay window of two windows on both floors, and a canted bay window on the ground floor only, extending outwards on both outer sides. A parapet tops the facade. The windows are framed by architraves supported by consoles, with a small pediment above the first-floor windows on the outer side of the facade. Recessed doorways are grouped together under a shared porch, which features a fluted Doric column and plain pilasters on either side. The buildings are notable as they predate the rest of the terrace. Together with numbers 1 to 39, they form a notable group.
