Description
15 and 17 The Chain are two similar cottages dating from the 19th century. They are two storeys high and have three windows in total. Both houses have painted fronts and retain their glazing bars, although the first-floor window of No 15 features a modern casement sash with square panes. No 17 has a doorway adorned with pilasters, a projecting cornice, and a four-panel moulded door with beaded bottom panels. The upper part of the doorway has modern infilling with diamond-patterned glass squares. These cottages are part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 23 (odd) and Nos 4 to 12 (even) on Church Street, St Clement, as well as No 1 and the outbuildings at Millwall Place.
