Description
15 Mill Wall Place is a Grade II* listed building, constructed in red brick in the early 19th century. This two-storey structure features three windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, with painted plastered flat arches above the ground floor windows. The windows are box sashes with glazing bars, and there are modern imitation shutters. A swept lead hood supported by Gothick brackets and an entablature adorns the entrance.
Iron balustrades and three stone steps lead to the front door, which has two flush panels at the bottom and four moulded panels at the top, all set within a 45 1/2-inch recess in the facade. The building has a slate roof. Notably, the rear of the building likely dates back to the early 17th century.
A gas lantern, converted to electricity in the mid-19th century, is attached to No 15. It is mounted on a modern wall bracket and features a surmounted lamp on four curved ogee braces. The lantern has a square plan, larger at the top than at the bottom, with anthemion foliage at each corner of the sloping roof, culminating in a bell-shaped vent topped with a scalloped cap and finial.
