Description

Hofwyl Cottage is a house that was formerly a lodge, built around 1850. It is constructed of reddish brown brick and features a hipped slate roof. The building has a square plan and is one storey high. The central entrance has a round-headed doorcase with a semi-circular fanlight and four flush panels. There are four round-headed sash windows with horns on the front, and the side elevation includes two additional round-headed windows. A central square brick chimney stack, which has four chimney pots set at an angle, is also present. At the rear, there is a lean-to that connects to the stabling of River House. Hofwyl Cottage is included in the listing for its group value with No. 33 Valley Road, to which it is attached.
