Description

This is an early 16th century pair of brick houses located on Church Street in St Clement's. The front facades are now plastered and painted. They have yellow brick chimney stacks and tiled roofs. A side window to number 12 has been blocked in. Both roofs are semi-hipped at the front, with small gables at the apex, reflecting a 15th-century style. The windows are box sash windows with arched heads, featuring sashes with glazing bars in patterns of 16 and 12 squares. The front door of number 10 is a four-panel, bead-flush design with two glazed squares at the top. Number 12 has a beaded, battened door. A lead valley gutter runs between the two houses. Numbers 4 to 12 (even) alongside numbers 1 to 23 (odd) on the opposite side of the street, together with The Chain public house, number 1, and associated outbuildings on Millwall Place, form a group.
