Description

Frogham Cottage is a house that dates back to the 17th century or earlier, with extensions and alterations made in the early 19th century. It features a timber frame and weatherboarding, while the extension is rendered and roughcast. The roofs are thatched. The original structure has a two-cell lobby entry plan and stands two storeys high with a hipped roof and a central stack. On the first floor, there is one wooden casement window to the left, and on the ground floor, there are two horizontally sliding glazing bar sash windows alongside a central boarded door topped with a gabled hood.

To the right, facing the road, there is a tall one-storey and garret wing that projects at the gable end, featuring a pierced bargeboard supported by carved brackets and a half hipped roof with a stack at the rear. This wing has one glazing bar sash on each floor, both with four-centred arched heads and label hoods. There are also two oriel windows on the first floor to the left, both with four-centred arched heads, and a canted bay on the ground floor with Gothick tracery. The central glazed door, which has Gothick tracery, is set within a flat-roofed porch.

Additionally, there is a projecting single-storey gabled extension to the right, covered with a slate roof and featuring a pierced bargeboard on carved brackets. This extension has a single glazing bar sash window with a four-centred arched head and a label hood. The Cottage Ornee details are similar to those found at the Lodge to Fredville Park at Holt Street, suggesting a connection to the estate.
