Description
The Keep is a building that is part of the town wall, although very little of the original structure remains, with only one arched doorway visible at first floor level. The interior has been completely rebuilt, making it largely modern, but the exterior retains the historic character of the walling at this location. It is constructed from 17th century warm yellow brick, flint, and stone. The roof is covered with Dutch pantiles and some plain tiles. The Keep, along with the buildings and walls facing the Quay, including Nos 3 and 5 Upper Strand Street, forms a group of significant structures.
