Description
The boundary walls surrounding the Salutation on the north, west, and south sides, along with a post box, date from the 18th century or earlier. These walls, which may have been adapted by Sir Edwin Lutyens around 1911-12, are constructed from flint, old stone, and brick, featuring a semi-circular brick coping. The walls stand approximately 7 feet high. They form the boundary of the Salutation along The Bulwarks for about 200 feet, along two sections of Knightrider Street totaling approximately 295 feet, and along Sandown Road for about 530 feet. A Victorian wall post box is embedded in the section along Knightrider Street.
