Description
Bonnington Farmhouse is a house that dates back to at least the 16th century. It is timber framed and plastered, with part of the exterior clad in painted brick. The right side of the building features an exposed close studded frame with plaster infill. The roof is plain tiled and hipped. The house has two storeys and a basement, with chimneys located at the centre left and a projecting, offset chimney at the end right, as well as another set diagonally positioned at the rear right corner.
On the first floor, there are five wooden casement windows, while the ground floor has two large casements and a panelled door located to the centre right, which is topped with a flat hood supported by brackets. A flight of four steps leads up to this door, and there is a basement opening to the right. To the left, there is a two-storey wing made of painted brick, featuring two wooden casements and a boarded door. This site is historically significant as it was an ancient manorial site and the origin of the de Bois or Boys family, who were prominent locally and noted nationally.
