Description
Nos 9 and 11 Cattle Market is a two-storey timber-framed building dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. Although it has been refronted, the south side at the rear retains its jettied first floor, featuring a corner post and brackets with overhanging eaves. The upper floor of the south-west elevation is pebble dashed, while the lower part is cement rendered. On the first floor, there are three modern casement sash windows, and on the ground floor, there are two sliding box sash windows with wing lights, one on each floor, all complete with glazing bars. The building has a gable at the west end. The north front is entirely plastered, with a ground floor that includes a Regency shop window made up of small squares, also with complete glazing bars. To the right of this window is a door with a bead flush panel below and glazed above, again with complete glazing bars. A plain fascia forms a string at the first-floor level. Nos 7 to 11 (odd) and the Water Pump form a group.
