Description

The East Kent Road Car Former Office is a waiting room and ticket office that opened in 1922. It features a high plinth made of long hand-made bricks, with an oak timber frame above and plastered infill, topped by a hipped tiled roof. This rectangular building is one storey high and has oak-framed mullion and transomed windows with leaded lights. There are three entrances, each with double half-glazed doors that have period lettering highlighted in gold. Inside, the waiting room retains its original built-in benches. An attached plaque notes that it was erected by The East Kent Road Car Company Limited and opened by the Mayor of Sandwich on May 30, 1922.
