Description

The Fleur de Lys Hotel is a late 18th century or early 19th century building located on Delf Street. It is constructed in three sections. The east wing is two storeys high with a tiled roof and features three windows. The central section is three storeys tall and has one window, made of red brick with a string course above the ground floor. It has a modillion eaves cornice and retains intact glazing bars on the first floor. There is one round-headed doorway and another doorway with pilasters and a projecting cornice. The west wing, built in the mid-19th century, is made of yellow brick in a Regency style, also two storeys high with a slated roof. It has four windows on the first floor with flat rubbed brick arches, and all glazing bars are complete. There is a projecting string course and one similar window, along with a smaller window in four squares on the ground floor. The hotel entrance features a pair of glazed doors with a square light above, and there is a modern shop front on the westernmost side, which includes a Regency-style window and glazed door. Nos 6 and 8 have a projecting brick cornice with modillion brick headers, along with a cast iron gutter and lead rainwater pipe. No 10 has a projecting plain brick cornice with a similar gutter. The Fleur de Lys Hotel, along with Nos 4 to 10 (even) and Nos 1 to 9 (odd) on Market Street, forms a group.
