Description

Pellicane House is a 15th-century house located on the West Side of the High Street. It was substantially refronted in the 17th and 18th centuries. The building is two storeys high with a four-window frontage. The exterior is faced with flint and some re-used Caen and Kent Rag stone, with window jambs constructed of thin Dutch brick. A stringcourse runs above each floor. The building is topped with a castellated parapet. Sash windows are present, retaining their original glazing bars. On the first floor are five small segmental-headed recesses or blocked windows, each with a dripstone above. The doorway features pilasters, a curved pediment, and an eight-panel fielded door, flanked by two small, narrow windows also with dripstones. The building forms a group with numbers 20 to 54 (even).
