Description

This is a pair of 18th-century houses located on the east side of High Street. The buildings are three stories high, with a semi-basement, and constructed of red brick, topped by a parapet. The windows are sash windows in reveals, but the glazing bars have been lost from No. 178. The doorcases feature open pediments with reeded friezes and fluted pilasters, leading up five steps to the street. Numbers 174 to 180 (even) form a group.
