Description

This listing describes a row of three headstones located 4 to 7 metres south of the Church of St Mary in Wingham. The headstones date from the 18th century. The first headstone belongs to Mary Dowker, who died in 1747, and stands 3 feet high with a scrolled head, featuring a cherub's head and palm fronds. The second headstone is for William Dowker, who died in 1707, and includes a decoration of a skull and crossed bones. The third headstone commemorates Thomas Bowers, who died in 1766, and has a scrolled head adorned with a cherub's head.
