Description

The White Gate is a house dating from the early 18th century, with an addition from the early 19th century. The front of the house is painted brick, while the rear wing is of red brick, both with plain tiled roofs. The two-storey main house features a brick corbelled eaves cornice and a hipped roof with stacks projecting at the left and right ends. The windows are regularly spaced with 3 glazing bar sashes on the first floor and 2 on the ground floor, each with a gauged head. The central front door is of 6 raised and fielded panels, topped with a traceried semi-circular fanlight within a double rebated surround, leading to a flight of 5 semi-circular steps. A hipped rear wing, dating from the early 18th century, completes the building.
