Description

Lower Rowling Farmhouse is an early 19th century house. The front elevation is constructed of buff-coloured bricks, while brown bricks are used elsewhere. It has a slate roof, a moulded cornice, and a parapet to the hipped roof, with stacks positioned to the left and right. The fenestration is regular, featuring three glazing bar sashes on the first floor and two on the ground floor, all with rendered cambered heads. A central double door with three raised and fielded panels is set within a large Doric porch, which has three moulded steps. The porch is topped with a high quality traceried fanlight and sidelights. Two-storey bows extend from the left and right returns, each with one glazing bar sash on each floor. Lower, two-storey wings extend to the rear. Inside, the staircase is on a dogleg/half landing plan, with unturned balusters and a wreathed handrail.
