Description

The wall, gate piers, and railings to Ingress Abbey, located along London Road and turning into The Avenue, date from the early to mid 19th century. The structure features a coursed stone rubble wall approximately 5 feet high, topped with stone coping. At the junction with The Avenue, there are six square stone gate piers with pyramidal caps, which are separated by cast iron railings designed in a Gothic style, complete with embattled tops and decorative trefoil and quatrefoil patterns. Along The Avenue, the wall includes two similar gate piers, a section of cast iron railings, a stone wall measuring about 20 feet in length, and a section of wall made of knapped flints that stands about 6 feet high.
