Description
Barton Cottage and Crest Cottage are older cottages that were altered in the cottage orné style during the mid-19th century as part of the estate village of the Marquesses Conyngham. The buildings are one storey with an attic, constructed of red brick and topped with a tiled roof that has a gable end facing south. They feature one hipped dormer and a plastered gable above casement windows, which include two and three-light configurations, as well as a canted bay on the ground floor. The cottages have a gabled porch adorned with bargeboards and wood barleysugar columns, and the door is fitted with ornamental iron hinges. There are two brick stacks with flat rain hoods, and an armorial plaque is located on the gable end.
