Description

The Dane John Mound Pinnacle is a stone pillar erected in 1830 to honor James Simmons Esquire, an Alderman of the city, for his efforts in transforming Dane John into pleasure grounds. The pillar features a fluted base and supports a vase, all positioned on a castellated square block that has four niches, one on each side. The mound itself is recognized as an ancient monument, originally serving as an early defensive structure for the city.
