Description

The memorial to Christopher Marlowe is located in Dane John and dates from the late Victorian period. It features a bronze figure of Marlowe on a stone plinth, which includes a small lute player. The plinth is adorned with four recessed statuettes: Sir Henry as Tamburlaine, Edward Alleyn as Barabbas from "The Jew of Malta," James Hackett as Edward II, and Sir Johnston Forbes Robertson as Dr Faustus. Marlowe was born in Canterbury in 1564.
