Description
The Red House is a mid-18th century building located on St Peter's Lane. It has two storeys and a basement, constructed from red brick with grey headers. The roof is covered with old tiles and features a wide wooden modillion cornice. There are five sash windows set in moulded wooden architraves with brick heads, and a part brick stringcourse above each window. The central doorcase has a moulded architrave and a rectangular fanlight with two glazing bars, along with a reeded door surround that includes paterae in the corners. The side elevation contains one sliding sash window, while the rear elevation is mostly tile-hung and features three sash windows, one of which is a three-light bow window. The building forms a group with Nos 2 to 6 (even), along with the wall and gatepiers to No 2.
