Description
Goodwin Farmhouse is a house with origins dating back to the 16th century, which underwent alterations in the 18th century and was extended in the late 20th century. The building features a timber frame clad with painted brick on a ragstone base, with weatherboarding on the return and tile hanging along with red brick on the rear elevations. It has a plain tiled roof and is possibly a four-bay hall house. The structure stands two storeys high with a garret on a plinth. The left end bays are slightly recessed and display older brickwork. The roof is hipped and includes a cluster of filleted stacks on the left and a projecting stack at the right end. There is a raking dormer on the left return. The first floor has four wooden casements, while the ground floor has three casements and a six-panel door, with the top two panels glazed, set within an open hipped porch. Inside, the full frame is visible, featuring tie beams with mortice holes that may have been for a crown post, large scantling beams, and an inglenook fireplace. A full-height rear extension was added in the late 20th century.
