Description
Upper Ensign House is an 18th-century house located on the east side of Selling Road in Old Wives Lees. The building features a timber frame that is clad in painted mathematical tiling, with the rear sections constructed of painted brick and topped with a plain tile roof.
The south front of the house is two storeys high and includes a moulded eaves cornice beneath a hipped roof, with chimney stacks positioned on both the left and right sides. The first floor has three glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor features one glazing bar sash window with a hood blind on the left and another sash window with a hood blind on the right of a central 20th-century half-glazed door. A 19th-century gabled hood with bargeboards is supported by brackets above the entrance.
The left side elevation of the house is weatherboarded. The main entrance is located on the left side elevation, featuring a 20th-century half-glazed door flanked by rectangular sidelights and panels, all beneath a cornice that is supported by four slim Ionic attached columns.
