Description

The Parish Church of St John the Baptist is a Grade I listed building located in Wittersham. It is constructed of sandstone with Kentish ragstone quoins and features a Perpendicular style with some Decorated elements. The church includes a chancel with north and south chapels, a 14th-century nave with aisles, a north porch, and a crenellated west tower. Inside, there are crown post roofs in the nave and south aisle, as well as a piscina and sedilia. The chancel was restored in the mid to late 19th century. The churchyard contains early 18th-century headstones featuring cherub or skull motifs, early 19th-century headstones with sunray designs, and 19th-century oval bodystones.
