Description
The Church of St Margaret is a Grade I listed building located on the north side of The Street in Bethersden. It is constructed from Kentish ragstone and features a chancel with north and south chapels, the north chapel currently serving as the vestry. The church has a nave with aisles and a west tower that consists of three stages, which is supported by buttresses and topped with a crenellated parapet. The porch and the three-bay nave have crown post roofs. The nave and aisles date back to the 14th century, while the chancel, chapels, and tower were built in the 15th century. The churchyard contains several 18th-century headstones adorned with skull motifs, hourglass and serpent motifs, as well as some oval bodystones.
