Description

Evegate Mill is a mill with a water wheel, built in 1862. The building is constructed of red brick with timber framing and weatherboarding, and has a plain tiled roof. It is three storeys high, with a garret, and features swivel-hung glazing bar casements – two on each floor, with one to the return elevation. Boarded half-doors are located centrally at both the ground and first floors. An overshot water wheel is situated at the rear. The interior retains three sets of water-powered machinery, installed in 1862 and still in working order. Sales particulars from 1918 describe this as a water corn mill constructed in 1862.
