Description
The Church of St. Christopher is a domestic building that has been converted into a church. It dates from the 15th century and the 20th century. The structure is timber framed and covered in painted brick and tile hanging, topped with a plain tile roof. It is a single storey with a hipped roof, featuring a projecting outshot to the left and a hipped semi-dormer to the right. The building has a regular arrangement of six metal casement windows. There are double boarded doors set in a round-headed surround within a hipped porch on the right side.
Inside, the church showcases a close-studded timber frame that is underbuilt in brick, consisting of three bays, with the eastern bay subdivided. The roof features a crown post design, with the central post being a moulded octagonal shaft, while the other two posts are plain and unmoulded, braced to tie-beams and a collar purlin with Queen struts. The tie beams and collar purlin are supported by arched bracing. The interior also includes much re-used timber.
