Description

The Old School, dated 1845, is a building of group value. It was likely built by the Reverend William Toke of Godinton, and resembles the nearby Almshouses in style. It has a T-shaped front with a long wing extending to the south-east. The building is constructed of ashlar and has a tiled roof with shaped Dutch gable ends to the north-east and north-west wings, and a pointed gable end to the south-west wing. The north-west gable end contains an attic window, a cartouche displaying the date 1845, and a bell at its apex. There are five windows in total, and a small porch is situated at the north-east angle, featuring a shaped gable.
