Description

Coquet Lodge is a house that dates from the late 17th century and around 1800, consisting of two builds. It is constructed of red brick with a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys, sitting on a plinth to the right, with a hipped roof that steps down to the left to a hipped wing. There are stacks at both the end right and end left.

The main block, located to the right, features two glazing bar sash windows and a horizontally sliding glazing bar sash window in the centre on the first floor. On the ground floor, there are two glazing bar sashes and a 19th-century shop window with 18 panes at the end right. To the left, there are two 20th-century glazing bar casements on each floor, along with a sash window to the left on the ground floor.

The entrance includes a boarded door at the end left and a central door with six raised and fielded panels, topped with a segmental head and a flat hood supported by brackets. The right return displays some English bond brickwork, and there is an initialed brick from the 18th century marked E.P. to the left of the main door. The interior has been largely reconstructed; the building has previously served as a shop, a public house, and two cottages simultaneously.
