Description
Pound House is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations and recladding in the 17th century. It is timber framed and largely clad with red brick in an irregular English bond, with areas of tile hanging. The roof is tiled, hipped, with a stack in the centre of the right side, and hipped dormers projecting from the ridge on the return elevations. The front elevation’s brickwork is not bonded to the return elevations. The ground floor has three 2-light and 3-light leaded wooden casement windows, while the first floor has four such windows. A plank and stud door is located in a gabled porch with a 19th or 20th century moulded bargeboard, positioned in the centre of the right side of the front elevation. A catslide outshot extends to the rear. The interior reveals the full timber frame, including a tenoned purlin roof. There is also a 17th century outshot and inglenook fireplaces.
