Description

The Rolvenden War Memorial is an unusual design by Sir Edwin Lutyens, featuring a tall and slender cross made of Clipsham stone. This cross stands on an octagonal plinth, which is elevated by a base of three circular stone steps. Metal plaques on the plinth display the inscription: "AT THE/ GOING DOWN/ OF THE SUN/ AND IN/ THE MORNING/ WE WILL REMEMBER/ THEM/ (NAMES)."
