Description

Great Paddock Farmhouse is a manor house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and an attic above a basement, which is highlighted by a high weathered plinth. The gabled roof has a modillion eaves cornice and includes two 20th-century hipped dormers. There are projecting end stacks, with two coupled chimneys on the left and four octagonal chimneys on the right, each topped with oversailing moulded heads.

To the right, a lower hip and pentice cover a 19th-century extension made of chequered brick, which is also two storeys tall. The main block has regular fenestration with three 20th-century wooden mullioned windows set in chamfered brick surrounds, each with drip moulds above. The central entrance features a 20th-century plank door within a brick surround, also with a drip mould overhead. There is a 20th-century entry to the basement on the left. The 19th-century extension on the right has three irregularly placed casement windows. Both gable ends display prominent brick cornices.

Inside, the farmhouse has timbered partitions between rooms and an original staircase that spirals around a central decorated newel, leading into a square winder in a balustraded well.
