Description
Lodge House is a gate lodge built in the mid-19th century, located 5 yards northeast of Tower Lodge on the north side of Faversham Road in Boughton Aluph. The building features channelled stucco and a scalloped slate roof, standing two storeys tall on a plinth. It has a coved parapet with octagonal corner turrets and cupolas, supported by demi-figure brackets. The roof has a gabled parapet, topped with a finial of a knight holding a standard on the right side, and there are rear stacks on both the left and right.
To the left, there is a three-light Dering window with labels on both floors, and to the right, a single-light Dering window on both floors. The central entrance consists of a board door set within a two-storey projecting porch that has parapet gables and three finials. The porch features a chamfered arch, a drip mould, and a single light above with a drip mould. The gable displays a crown and motto, along with a carved grotesque corbel that supports the central finial. This lodge may be attributed to the architect William Burn, who also designed the adjacent Tower in 1848.
