Description
Stone House is a mid-19th century house designed in a Jacobean style, possibly by the architect William Burn. It features knapped flint with ashlar bands, quoins, and dressings, topped with plain tiled roofs. The house has an irregular plan with two storeys and garrets, with the main block running parallel to the road and a cross wing positioned off-center. There are brick stacks and a porch located in the re-entrant angle between the two wings. At the rear, various brick and rendered extensions have been added.
The windows are scattered and made of stone, consisting of two lights with diamond-leaded panes and chamfered mullions. On the ground floor, each gable end features segmental bays with mullioned and leaded lights, covered by stone slated roofs. The porch has two openings; the right one is blocked, while the left is panelled, both set in chamfered stone surrounds. The house is adorned with ornate shaped gables topped with ball finials and displays armorial plaques at the attic level, featuring a horse leaping over a crown along with a motto.
